When individuals feel discouraged, de-motivated, or frustrated – they feel challenged to connect with themselves and activate their personal leadership. This presentation delivers a framework, while articulating its application through several real-world practical examples – through which such people can connect with and inspire themselves, activate their personal leadership and deliver results Abstract: Transformational organizational leadership starts with individual leadership. Individual leadership styles are influenced by three key individual traits: 1. Being action oriented, 2. Being principle centered, 3. Providing individualized consideration (empathy). Based on the response choices one makes along the three axes of individual leadership traits to practical situations, people can be broadly classified into 4 groups: 1. People who are not action oriented or principle centered or individually considering. 2. People who respond with bias against any one of the traits 3. People who respond with a balance long all traits 4. People who see beyond these traits and aspire to see leadership as above and beyond these traits. To lead, motivate and deliver, it is imperative that people always strive to grow along this framework of leadership pyramid. However, when individuals feel discouraged, or frustrated – they feel challenged to connect with themselves and activate their personal leadership. The following are some examples of such scenarios: 1. Working under-employed or underpaid. 2. Being unrecognized or under-recognized. 3. Working for a bad boss who steals one’s ideas or publicly castigates you. 4. Training another person or organization who is going to take away one’s job. These are some of the typically painful situations where it is difficult to choose to grow along the leadership pyramid. Through a walk-through of how different types of people respond to such situations as a guided discussion – with participation from audience, the presentation will advocate the need to develop a passion to continually lead, motivate and deliver even in painfully challenging environments by viewing every opportunity as a personally growing opportunity – irrespective of the role one plays.
